This is the biggest difference. Sunny Beach is a purpose-built mega-resort: wide promenades, rows of hotels, neon-lit nightlife and a holiday-machine efficiency that gets you straight to the fun. Sozopol is a genuine old town on a rocky peninsula, with cobbled lanes, traditional wooden houses, art galleries and seafront tavernas — atmospheric and unhurried.
If your idea of a holiday is a buzzing resort with everything on tap, Sunny Beach delivers. If you'd rather wander a pretty old town with a glass of wine, Sozopol is hard to beat.
Beaches

Both sit on the southern Bulgarian coast near Burgas Airport — Sozopol to the south, Sunny Beach to the north.
